Kicking off this week’s selection of must-have iOS games is a brand new soccer game from X2 Games – the team behind the award-winning X2 Soccer titles. First Touch Soccer promises to be the true next-generation of soccer on iOS, offering the “most complete, realistic and addictive soccer sim available.”

Spider Jack is the latest puzzle release from Chillingo and I’m betting this game will be the next iOS game craze. Inspired by Cut the Rope, this game features a similar gameplay mechanic and all the ingredients needed to be a fantastic iOS puzzler.

Frisbee Forever is a whole new way to play frisbee and the only official frisbee game for iOS. It boasts super crisp 3D graphics and a frisbee experience like no other!

Find out more about the games above and check out Pulse: Volume One – this week’s final must-have – after the break!

First Touch Soccer claims to be the most complete soccer sim available for the iPhone, and with its impressive list of features, it could be spot on. To complete with the big boys like FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer, you need something pretty special – and this game is just that. It features an intelligent AI engine that provides smart defensive and attacking play with a challenging and addictive experience. Boasting intuitive controls, excellent visuals and multiple game modes. It really shines with ‘Dream Team’ mode, which allows you to create your own team from players all over the world – past and present. You can even design your own kit! With over 250 clubs, 30 competitions, and 7 game modes, First Touch Soccer is a must-have for soccer fans, and currently on sale to celebrate its release at an incredible $0.99!

Spider Jack bears an uncanny resemblance to Cut the Rope and offers a similar style of play mechanic, but instead features an adorable green arachnid called Jack, whose mission is to return to his web to get his fill of flies. It features 75 levels skilfully designed levels that promise to test your reflexes and foresight. Using pieces of web (not rope) you must carefully avoid electrical beams and guide Jack safely home to his web. Use hairdryers to you advantage and try to collect as many stars as you can along the way. Each level features multiple solutions, and the impressive visuals have been hand-drawn and optimized for the iPhone 4′s Retina display. Realistic physics attempt to give you a taste of “what real web-slinging is like,” and offer a puzzler that’s suitable for players of all ages and abilities.

Enter an absorbing world where players become part conductor, part note-captor and part multitouch master. Pulse is a brand new music game in which you must tap speeding notes as they cross the radiant pulse in an attempt to conduct beautiful melodies. There are 8 cores levels featuring original music with eclectic soundtracks of varying genres. It features unique and intuitive multitouch gameplay which is easy to pick up, but hard to master. Pulse is one of the most original iOS games I’ve seen for a while a truly magical idea that is executed perfectly on the iPad.

Your Grandma’s Radio is on YouTube

YouTube users are doing all sorts of creative things with annotations, a feature that lets them easily add interactivity to their videos.

In the past, they have created video games, a working piano and now you have an antique-style radio that has knobs to switch radio stations just like the real thing.

For best results, hit play followed by pause to let the whole video buffer locally. You can then use your keyboard keys or the channel buttons on the radio video itself to change frequencies.

It’s a clever implementation – all the music is part of the same video clip and, upon clicking the station buttons, you are merely jumping to a different location in the video.

Thanks Guy Dayan for the tip.

Sonos update turns wireless S5 speaker into a premium ‘stereo pair’

96deed0a2det 230.jpg Sonos update turns wireless S5 speaker into a premium stereo pair The Boquete Times Boquete PanamaThe ZonePlayer S5 launch was an important milestone for Sonos as it attempts to bring down the cost (and raise the appeal) of its excellent whole-home music delivery system. Now we’ve got a bit of good news for those of you who already picked up a few of the $399 all-in-one wireless speakers we reviewed back in October. A 3.2 software update for the Sonos controller and iPod touch / iPhone apps will be released sometime this month letting you assign left and right audio channels to a pair of S5 speakers. The result should be impressive since the portable units can already easily fill the average room with sound on their own. The update will provide owners of multiple S5s with a temporary option for parties, especially if you decide to take the show outdoors… assuming you can still celebrate knowing that you’re listening to two-channel audio on $800 worth of speakers. Hey, at least the software update is free.

Want Some Pleasing Ringtones for your Cell Phone? Try WolframTones

If you aren’t too happy with the common ringtones that came with your cell phone and want a tone that sounds pleasing and is unique, here’s an idea – create (or rather generate) a composition on your own with WolframTones.

Wolfram Tones is an online sound generator that can help you create 100% original patterns of music that you can download to your cell phone and use as a ringtone. You’ll get a different tone every time you press the composition button.

The generated tones are generally shorter than traditional music and, when you install one as a ringtone, your phone will automatically repeat it. The default duration of a ringtone is 30 seconds but you can easily increase it to 300 seconds.

Using Wolfram is simple. Just select a genre or style of music for the ring tone (like Rock, Jazz, Classical, etc.) and the program will generate a completely random but pleasing tone. You can even specify how various musical instruments should be used to render the composition.

When you are done, you can either download the MIDI ringtone to your computer or you can send it directly to your cell phone via SMS as a ringtone attachment.

If you have trouble using the Wolfram tones generator in your browser, make sure that the QuickTime plug-in is enabled – the program doesn’t require Adobe Flash.

Other than cell phone ringtones, you may also use the tool to generate background music for using in, say, your screencast videos.

Thank you Richard Bryne for the tip.

Sinatra "My Way" Karaoke Killings Plague Philippines Bar Scene

4f8f52d3b9popup.jpg Sinatra "My Way" Karaoke Killings Plague Philippines Bar Scene The Boquete Times Boquete PanamaApparently, when people sing Sinatra’s My Way in a Philippines karoake bar, and they sing it poorly, they die.

The epidemic’s gotten so bad, in fact, that local law enforcement started calling it the “My Way Killings.”

No one really know why dozens have died over the past decade while warbling to one of Sinatra’s greatest hits, just that they have, and after this specific song. Is it bad singing? Traditionally violent streets being traditionally violent streets? Die hard Sinatra fans exacting their revenge on newbs who butcher the greats? Possibly. Karaoke is huge in the region, with machines popping up everywhere, from bars to alleyways (as you can see from the image). Combine that with high crime and a fanatical love of Frank Sinatra and you could have just the right mix for a kill (the audience with your talent) or be killed (by the audience for sucking) atmosphere.

One thing’s for sure: This guy should stay the hell away form the Philippines. [NYT]
